Sarah Lotafe is originally from the Republic Democratic of Congo (DRC) and has made Greensboro her hometown for 12 years now. Knowing the struggles Immigrants and refugees experienced, especially with languages barriers, she started volunteering her time helping new refugees with interpretation at Doris Henderson Newcomers School few months after coming in the US. She supported Front Office through parents, students and staff communication. She volunteered actively on several projects and initiatives of Guilford County Schools. She also worked as a Freelance French Interpreter where she gained her interpretation skills. She helped in different facilities like schools, hospitals and social service to support immigrants and refugees.

She attended Winston Salem State University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work. Her journey at CNNC started as a volunteer in 2017 at one of the community centers. She felt in love with the vision and mission of CNNC and decided to come back as an intern from January 2023 to May 2023.She is now serving as an Interpreter Access Program Associate.

She finds joy and fulfillment in helping others. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling around the world to discover and learn new cultures.
