Sherrell Hicklen House, Ph.D. was appointed to the role of Associate Director of Research, Evaluation, and Grant Development in October 2025. She joined CYFCP as the Associate Director for Evaluation in June 2024. She brings almost 20 years of experience in research, evaluation, and grant writing with a strong focus on supporting programs that make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, families, and communities. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Howard University, followed by a Master of Science in Psychology in Education with a concentration in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Michigan State University. Each step along the way has deepened her commitment to understanding how individuals grow and thrive within their families and communities.

Prior to her current role, Dr. House served as a faculty member in Child Development and Family Studies at North Carolina A&T State University, transitioned into a Director of Research position at Boston University, and later took on a role as the Community Outreach Coordinator with Durham County Cooperative Extension. These roles have shaped her approach to evaluation and grant development by integrating research, practice, and the real-world needs of communities. The skills gained from these experiences continue to inform her work today.

Dr. House is passionate about using a strengths-based lens to research, evaluate, and support programs and policies that aim to improve outcomes for all populations. She believes in the power of collaboration and in lifting the voices of those most impacted by the work.
