Join us for this free lecture in UNC Greensboro’s 2023-24 Harriet Elliott Lecture Series, hosted by the Department of Political Science.
Dr. Melissa Lane is a professor of politics at Princeton University and director of the University Center for Human Values. A political theorist, Lane’s work focuses primarily on ancient Greek philosophy, especially the writings of Plato. Her latest monograph, “Of Rule and Office: Plato’s Ideas of the Political” (2023), offers a new understanding of Greek ideas of public offices and the vulnerabilities of democracies.
Free and open to the public.
A light reception will follow the lecture.
