Students walk down the stairs of the UNCG Jackson Library.

The Jackson Library staff is excited to announce the start of the Jackson Library Addition and Renovation project. This project will transform the Library into a modern-day library: dynamic, technology-rich learning environment and intellectual community hub.

Students, faculty, and staff can help by coming to one of three pop-up engagement sessions to share their thoughts on their vision for the library. Those sessions will be Wednesday, September 28 at the following locations:

  • Moran Commons at 8:30-10 a.m.
  • EUC at 11:30-1 p.m.
  • Jackson Library at 4-5:30 p.m.

The innovative revitalization will strategically support the University’s institutional mission, enhance, and strengthen the library’s connection as the heart of UNCG’s Main Campus.

On March 22, 2022, the Board of Trustees approved the team of LS3P from Raleigh, NC and Shepley Bulfinch from Durham, NC as the Designers for the Jackson Library Addition and Renovation project. On July 13, 2022 the Board of Trustees approved Skanska USA Building, Inc. as the Construction Manager at Risk for Preconstruction services.

With these team members in place, on-campus activities are scheduled to begin this week and signal the start of the renovation process as the design team will tour the building and join stakeholders, library partners, University leadership, students, faculty, and staff in a series of visioning and engagement sessions to obtain insight from the campus community that will inform design priorities and take the aging building to the next level of contemporary design.

Interested in providing input, participate in an online survey.
