Many alumni in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) were immersed in the arts from an early age. Others discovered their talents later on. No matter their background, all agree that they connected with their skills and hobbies at a deeper level once they came to UNCG.

Claire Lewis, BFA Studio Art: Sculpture and Ceramics
With a love of creativity nurtured by her parents and an established business, Lewis knows a lot about the art-show circuit. UNCG took that to another level thanks to the iron work of Kevin Vanek, associate professor of sculpture and the Foundry Director.

Angelica Kankam, MFA in Dance
After earning a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Ghana, Kankam wanted a premiere experience in graduate school. She dived into her research of faculty and alumni from UNCG’s School of Dance. She knew she made the right choice once she immersed herself in the supportive community.
