You can’t miss it. Big things are happening at UNC Greensboro’s Main Library. From the extensive fencing around construction equipment next to the Elliott University Center, people in hard hats and heavy boots coming and going, to the occasionally rumble of big machinery rolling through the circle at Walker Ave., the renovation project is well underway. Even the beloved Rawk had to cross the road to make way for all the work.
It brings us closer to a revitalized central library, better equipped to serve the needs of students today and those who choose UNCG in the future.
Construction, which began in 2025, is expected to wrap up in 2028. When it ends, students will have full access to expanded seating areas, new study rooms, new computer labs, a convening staircase, and inspiring vistas out the windows.
While large sections remain off limits, including the tower, the library remains open for students who need to pick up a book, hold a group meeting for a project, or get some feedback from a peer in the Academic Achievement Center. More books, music, technology, and other resources are available for checkout at the Harold Schiffman Music Library in the School of Music.
In the meantime, UNCG asks everyone to continue their patience and consideration of the work being done. They can check out the services available in the open areas and online.
