BRIDGES is an inclusive professional development program dedicated to supporting women in higher education who seek to gain or strengthen their academic leadership capabilities, or who demonstrate a commitment to supporting women and gender issues and equality in the academy. It is designed to help participants identify, understand, and build their leadership roles in the academy. It is designed to help participants identify, understand, and build their leadership roles in the academy and is sponsored by the UNC System. You can read more about it here.

There are many UNCG BRIDGES alumnae. The program is for professionals in student affairs, academic affairs, and business affairs.

Each year, the Office of the Provost funds one participant from UNCG, but they must apply to BRIDGES and be accepted. If you would like to be considered as the funded Provost’s Office participant, please submit your draft application which includes an application form, résumé/curriculum vitae summary (limit to two pages), essay, and two letters of recommendation to jennyjojohnson@uncg.edu by May 14, 2021. Keep in mind, even if selected, you must also submit to the UNC System application page in the link above by May 20. You can submit both at the same time. Applicants will be notified by June 15.

It is important to note that institutional sponsorship does not guarantee selection into the program, as the final selection process is driven by the BRIDGES selection committee.
