  • The Spring 2020 Harriet Elliott Lecture Series is titled “Just futures: Equity & Sustainability.” The series will expand on the theme explored in the fall events. The first event, on February 4, at 3:30 p.m., in Graham 212, features Dr. Kimberly Ruffin, with her talk, “What Black Panther Taught Me about Our Inner Gorilla: The Shape of Human Animality to Come.” See the full line-up of the series, which continues through April 20, here: https://ges.uncg.edu/hels/
  • Assemblages is an annual conference showcasing undergraduate and graduate research in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, which will be held April 3 in the EUC. The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program invites submissions of an academic or personal paper, workshop, or creative piece of media/art. Submissions are due by March 3.   • UNCG’s Collage Chamber Concert Series will present a concert Feb. 2 at 3:30 p.m. in Tew Recital Hall, in collaboration with the Association of Retired Faculty (ARF). The concert is intended to raise funds and food donations for the Student Emergency Fund and the UNCG Spartan Open Pantry, a critically needed food resource for students and employees of UNCG who find themselves in need of assistance. Attendees of the concert are being asked to bring food items to donate to the Open Pantry; the items which will be collected by members of ARF.
  • Thursday, February 6, the Weatherspoon Art Museum will host Dr. Timothy Colton, professor of Government and Russian Studies at Harvard University. He will discuss contemporary Russian politics under Vladimir Putin, both the challenges and the potential for change going into the future.   • HealthyUNCG is presenting the 3S Movement Challenge for four weeks during February. Through this fun self-care intervention, employees are encouraged to drink water (sip), stand, and stretch each hour throughout the week. The challenge begins Feb. 3. Register and find more information here.
