In December, UNCG Police honored officers and employees for their contributions to campus and community safety.
Awards given included Employee of the Year, Officer of the Year, and Supervisor of the Year, and Lifesaving Medals.
“I am very proud of our officers, their training, and the lifesaving equipment that we have available,” said Chief of Police Paul Lester. “We are so grateful that we have a group of professionals that have dedicated themselves to helping others. We value their service and contribution to our community.”
The honorees are listed below:
Employee of the Year
Security Officer Brandon Mercer was honored for his hard work and dedication to keeping the campus community safe. He has served UNCG for nearly 18 years.
Officer of the Year
Master Police Officer Braxton Hiatt was named the 2020 Officer of the Year after taking on a new role of squad leader.
Supervisor of the Year
Staff Sergeant William Holland was named the 2020 Supervisor of the Year after taking on a new role as a rotation supervisor.
The UNCG Police Department awards the Lifesaving Medal to employees who are directly responsible for the saving of a human life or the substantial prolonging of a human life.
In 2020, four officers received this award, and five officers directly provided life-saving medical assistance in an emergency situation.
