Dr. Kelly Stamp (Family and Community Nursing) was named the recipient of the UNC Greensboro School of Nursing’s Senior Research Excellence Award for the 2020-21 academic year.

Stamp was presented the award during a School of Nursing faculty assembly meeting on April 21. The award recognizes a tenured faculty member at the rank of full professor for their outstanding research contributions over the past five years.

Stamp’s research has focused on improving outcomes for individuals with chronic coronary artery disease, including heart failure, which is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality for men and women in the U.S. and worldwide.

She is an author on two position statement papers on heart failure, one in which she was the first author on discussing nursing research in heart failure care. Both position statements were supported by the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, an organization in which she is a national leader and served as president in 2018.

Stamp has given presentations at seminal conferences in her research area, has applied for and secured externally funded research grant projects, and has published in journals in nursing and outside of nursing.

In 2017, Stamp was recognized as the Eloise R. Lewis Excellence Professor in the School of Nursing. She is a fellow of the American Heart Association and a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
