Students take notes in a classroom.

As the University transitions out of the spring semester, the Students First Office would like to update the campus community on important information about Starfish, UNCG’s Early Alert and scheduling technology.

Clearing Spring 2023 Feedback

Each semester, students begin with zero feedback items (flags, kudos, and referrals). The Starfish administrator will clear Spring 2023 feedback items on May 5 to allow students to enter the summer semester with a fresh start.

  • May 4: Last day to issue feedback items (flags, kudos, referrals) for Spring 2023
    classes.
  • May 5: Commencement, Spring 2023 feedback items will be cleared.

Note: Cleared feedback items will remain available for historical viewing.

Starfish and Summer Session

Starfish will be available for use during summer session as follows:

  • Undergraduate course instructors will be able to share feedback with students and their support network staff.
  • Instructors and staff can issue student referrals to various campus resources.
  • Instructors, staff, and students can use Starfish for appointment scheduling and meeting management.

Note: Instructors and staff who do not plan to host student appointments over the summer should ensure all Starfish calendar availability for the summer has been removed. Please visit the Starfish website for more information on these features!

Seeking Feedback: Starfish Surveys

Instructor Survey: At the end of every fall and spring semester, the Students First Office asks course instructors to provide feedback about Starfish. The Spring 2023 Instructor Survey will be distributed via email and available to all undergraduate instructors from April 24 to May 5.

Advisor Survey: At the end of every spring semester, the Students First Office asks academic advisors for feedback about Starfish and how it contributes to their advising practices. The Spring 2023 Advisor Survey will be distributed via email and available to all undergraduate advisors from April 24 to May 5.

Starfish and Outlook Calendar Sync

In collaboration with UNCG ITS, the Students First Office has been working to integrate Starfish and Microsoft Outlook calendars for a seamless transition for all campus users. We are happy to report that faculty and staff can now sync Outlook and Starfish calendars beginning Monday, April 24. Faculty and staff who utilize Starfish for appointment scheduling are strongly encouraged to sync their Outlook and Starfish calendars as soon as possible to avoid any scheduling errors. Step by step instructions can be found here.

Please reach out to starfish@uncg.edu if you have any feedback, questions, or concerns about calendar integration.
