Dear campus community,

We have received many questions regarding the impact of recent executive orders on UNCG. We recognize that this has caused confusion and anxiety, and we are committed to helping students, faculty, and staff navigate these developments. While much remains uncertain and the situation remains fluid, here is what we know at this point.

This afternoon, the Executive Office of the President – Office of Management and Budget (“OMB”) rescinded Memorandum 25-13, a “Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs.” However, we will continue to monitor this situation as the executive orders requiring “Federal agencies to identify and review all Federal financial assistance programs and supporting activities consistent with the President’s policies and requirements” are still in effect.

Student Aid

Student financial aid is not impacted.

International Students and Scholars

International students and scholars with questions should contact their International Student and Scholar advisor at isss@uncg.edu.

Research

We are awaiting guidance from federal agencies regarding our funded research programs. In the meantime, researchers may continue to work on their projects. As we get more information or if any of our programs receive a stop-work order, we will proceed as required. If you receive information directly from an agency regarding your federally funded work, please reach out to Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement Sherine Obare at research@uncg.edu. For the latest information, please visit the Council of Government Relations resources page.

Immigration

We have also prepared a guide should you be approached by a federal or state agent with requests for information that may include immigration. The guide is intended to help you manage such inquiries. If you are approached, your first point of contact should be the UNCG Police Department at 336-334-5963.

Student Resources

Students who are feeling anxious or have questions about these matters are encouraged to utilize campus resources for support.

Employee Resources

Employees who are feeling anxious or have questions are encouraged to utilize the Employee Assistance Program.

We are working with the UNC System Office and will update the campus community of changes and as information becomes available. The University remains committed to our mission and to the difference we make in the lives of our students and the communities we serve.
