The Exploratory major gives students the opportunity to work closely with an academic advisor to discover their interests and skills while exploring different courses, programs, and co-curricular opportunities as a part of the major selection process.

Program overview

The Exploratory Major at UNCG allows students to explore their interests and strengths while working closely with an academic advisor. The student and the advisor will identify opportunities to explore different courses, programs, and co-curricular opportunities as a part of the major selection process. Being an Exploratory major also provides students with valuable lessons in researching options, evaluating alternatives, and decision making that can be applied beyond their time at UNCG.

The Student Experience

  • Students can explore their interests and strengths in a supportive environment with help from an academic advisor.
  • Throughout the advising process students will establish academic and personal goals.
  • Students can explore different courses and programs while meeting the General Education Core (GEC) requirements.
