The Online Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology Program at UNCG is committed to providing the next generation of clinicians with the highest quality academic, research, and clinical training in the assessment/treatment and prevention of communication and swallowing disorders.

We aim to instill in these future health care providers a desire to actively contribute to the profession and our community with a high level of expertise and compassion. The program requires 66 credit hours and provides a lifespan approach for advanced study of language, speech, swallowing, non-speech communication systems, and hearing in people of all ages.

Online Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology Program Distinctions

The online Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology Program at UNCG is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The master’s program provides academic and clinical instruction sufficient for the Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) in speech-language pathology awarded by ASHA, licensure in all states, and by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction.

Students will be part of a nationally recognized program. In 2026, U.S. News and World Report ranked UNCG as having the #2 best Speech-Language Pathology graduate program in N.C. and #50 in the U.S.

    The Online Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology Student Experience

    The online SLP program is designed to fit the student’s schedule.

    • 100% online academic coursework, with primarily asynchronous courses.
    • Can be completed in 5 semesters full-time, with 66 credit hours total.
    • Emphasis on cultivating the knowledge and skills necessary for graduates to be active contributors and change-makers in their communities.

    After Graduation with a degree in Speech-Language Pathology

    Graduates of this online SLP program may be employed in: hospitals (inpatient, outpatient, and acute care), skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, public schools, private practices, and early intervention programs. Careers may include:
