Men’s Basketball To Honor Miller & Alonso With Jersey Retirement

Isaiah Miller and Francis Alonso

The jerseys worn by UNC Greensboro men’s basketball alumni Isaiah Miller and Francis Alonso will be retired this summer. Both Miller and Alonso have their names etched in the UNCG men’s basketball record book in a multitude of single season and career top 10 categories.

Robert Slater knows that music can create strong ties of friendship, family, and community. He learned this from his mother, Emma Gibbs Morisey Slater ’36. Now, he and his wife, Jane, are continuing his mother’s legacy through annual support of the Emma Gibbs Slater Scholarship in Music.

This Women’s History Month, UNCG is honoring the women who were first, including first in integration: JoAnne Smart ’60 and Bettye Ann Davis Tillman ’60, the first Black students to attend what is now UNCG. The two trailblazers have left a legacy for other Black female students to find their way at UNCG.

The UNC Greensboro 2024 Men’s Soccer season is underway. The five-match slate includes the inaugural Carolina Cup, which is a five-team league where all teams play one another, including the Spartans, Gardner-Webb, High Point, South Carolina, and Campbell.
