Students, faculty, and staff can keep UNCG’s new and improved safety tools in the palm of their hand with the help of the new Spartan Safe mobile app.
Spartan Safe was launched at the end of the Spring 2023 semester and replaces the LiveSafe app. It offers new features that students can use as they make their way about campus. All Spartans are encouraged to download the Spartan Safe app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Instructions on how to download it can also be found on UNCG’s mobile app.
Spartans can check out the user-friendly safety tools found on Spartan Safe, including:
- Friend Walk: The Friend Walk feature allows you to share your location with a family member or friend so they can remotely monitor your location while you walk to your destination and ensure you arrive safely. No need to walk alone!
- Mobile BlueLight: When you activate the Mobile BlueLight feature in the Spartan Safe app, it shares your location with a UNCG Police dispatcher and then prompts you to call UNCG Police. No longer is the call for help tied to a physical bluelight location. If you need help, you can call from wherever you are on campus.
- Report a Tip: Have something to report? This feature provides you with several options to contact UNCG Police – including options to remain anonymous.
- Chat with Police: You don’t always have to call. The chat with UNCG Police feature provides users the ability to chat with a UNCG Police Communicator.
- Take Action Guides: What do you do in an emergency? The Spartan Safe App has you covered. Check out the guides and tips on what to do so you can be prepared before an emergency occurs.
Spartans can also learn more at the new Spartan Safe website which serves as a central site for safety information and replaces the former Spartan Alert website.
The safety and well-being of our Spartans and visitors is a top priority of UNCG, and maintaining a safe campus is everyone’s responsibility. That’s why we are enhancing our public safety technologies – putting innovative safety tools right in the palm of your hand.
