UNCG students walk around tables at career fair.
2025 Spring Career Fair

The most valuable source of information on academic success comes from UNCG’s soon-to-be graduates. Before they transition from student to alum, Career & Professional Development (CPD) asks them to fill out the “First Destination Survey.”

Faculty, advisors, and all student-facing staff are asked to encourage all their students graduating in May 2025 to take time to answer this survey. They will receive a free alumni t-shirt if they respond between March 31 and May 9.

The survey tracks where students are going after they have walked the stage at Commencement. This includes any jobs they have lined up, internships, salaries, and whether they plan to continue their education in graduate school.

The survey data is one of the most valuable promotional tools for UNCG to reach prospective students and their families. It provides a framework for job opportunities and salary ranges that frequently factor into the decision to apply to UNCG.

It helps UNCG better cater programs for future students and provide them with career advice based on past student experience. Reminders will go out to the students, but there’s a greater likelihood of responding when they hear about it from a faculty mentor.

This year, CPD rolled out a new website dedicated to this data, with a data request form for department heads, faculty, and staff members to request the information specifically about their program.
