Beginning this academic year, UNC Greensboro will take an important step toward modernizing its talent management processes by implementing NEOED as the University’s centralized human resources platform.

Via a phased approach, NEOED will eventually replace the core talent management functions currently provided through the SpartanTalent system, including recruitment and performance management, while introducing new capabilities such as employee onboarding, learning management, electronic forms, and automated workflows. Phases will be communicated over the course of the upcoming academic year.

The implementation of NEOED, combined with its integration with Ellucian Banner, will provide a more efficient and streamlined experience for hiring managers, employees, and central administrative offices. By centralizing employee data and automating key HR processes, the University will reduce duplicate data entry, improve data accuracy, streamline administrative tasks, and accelerate hiring across campus.

Why UNCG Is Consolidating Talent Management Platforms

Over time, the University has relied on multiple HR and administrative systems to manage various aspects of the employee lifecycle. While these systems have supported campus operations, they have also created inefficiencies through duplicate data entry, inconsistent processes, manual workflows, and varying departmental practices.

To improve operational efficiency and enhance the employee experience, Human Resources is moving toward a centralized talent management approach that provides a single, integrated system for recruitment, onboarding, learning, performance management, and employee development.

Centralizing these services is expected to:

  • Reduce the number of systems the University licenses and maintains.
  • Eliminate duplicate data entry and manual administrative tasks.
  • Improve data accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Reduce compliance risks through standardized workflows.
  • Increase transparency and reporting capabilities.
  • Strengthen collaboration across campus.
  • Provide a more seamless experience for hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.

Why UNCG Selected NEOED

NEOED is a comprehensive talent management platform designed specifically for higher education institutions. It is currently used by numerous colleges, universities, North Carolina community colleges, as well as state agencies to support the full employee lifecycle.

The platform provides integrated solutions for:

  • Recruitment and applicant tracking
  • Employee onboarding
  • Learning management and compliance training
  • Performance management
  • Electronic forms and workflow automation
  • and more

Following a comprehensive evaluation by Human Resources, Information Technology Services (ITS), and Procurement, NEOED was selected because it is the solution that best aligns with the University’s long-term strategic goals and offers direct integration with Ellucian Banner, UNCG’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

What to Expect

NEOED modules are scheduled to begin rolling out over the course of the next academic year and will be implemented for permanent and temporary faculty, staff, and student employees. Human Resources and ITS are partnering with Faculty Personnel Services, The Graduate School, Student Employment Office, Payroll, the Budget Office, and other departmental stakeholders throughout the implementation process and will be providing communication, training, and support to ensure a successful transition.

Additional information, implementation timelines, and training opportunities will be shared as the project progresses.
