Each year, more than 8,000 Fulbright awards are granted to scholars for sharing knowledge and creating cultural exchange. Faculty who are interested in becoming a part of this global community have a chance to learn more.
On Thursday, April 24 from Noon to 1:30 p.m. there will be a lunch and learn all about the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. UNCG faculty can RSVP here.
Here at UNCG, Dr. Moses Acquaah, director of the Bryan School of Business and Economics’ business administration Ph.D. program, is currently in Ghana for his Fulbright Scholar program. There, he works with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to teach and to research how women achieve success in entrepreneurial businesses.
This fall, Dr. Steven Holland, professor of economics, was awarded a Fulbright; and Rachele Riley, associate professor of new media and design in the School of Art, is currently a semifinalist.
Recently, Dr. Joy Bhadury, Dean of the Bryan School, received a Fulbright Specialist Program award. He will complete a project at University of Venda in South Africa that aims to exchange knowledge and establish partnerships benefiting participants, institutions, and communities both in the U.S. and overseas through a variety of educational and training activities within education.
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to build lasting connections between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Since its establishment in 1946, it has given more than 400,000 students, scholars, teachers, artists, and scientists the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.
