Students stand at Minerva statue for a moment of silence regarding the war in Ukraine.

Students, faculty, staff, and friends are invited to an observance of the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine to be held at the Minerva statue on Friday, February 24 at Noon.

A moment of silence will be observed, after which faculty and students will read poems by Ukrainian poets. Individuals will then be invited to speak if they wish to do so.

UNC Greensboro has supported relief efforts throughout the war. The School of Nursing faculty helped mentor nurses in Moldova providing care to refugees. Business Management Professor Vasyl Taras created a pen pal program to help Ukrainian children continue their education and build connections with other children around the world.

Read Dr. Taras’ reflections in the Bryan School of Business and Economic’s Business Report and Peace and Conflict Studies Associate Professor Ali Askerov’s Q&A about the circumstances surrounding the conflict.
