The 2023-24 academic year brings an important undertaking – the University’s reaccreditation. Representatives of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on College (SACSCOC) will meet with University officials and visit campus this fall and spring, and we are hopeful that they will reaffirm our accreditation status. For some of you, this will be a familiar process. For others, it is the first time you’ve ever taken part.
As part of reaccreditation, UNCG is implementing its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). This is a critical component in reaffirming our commitment to SACSCOC’s principles and in enhancing our development of higher education and learning.
Last academic year, a collaborative University-wide committee worked together to identify and develop strategies for the QEP. The result is Spartans Thrive, a QEP centered around the theme of holistic well-being and health. Spartans Thrive includes Student Affairs’ existing Spartan Experience and its eight dimensions of wellness.
The primary target of Spartans Thrive is first time in college (FTIC) students. They’ll be able to improve their wellness through the Minerva’s Academic Curriculum (MAC), the Spartan Well-being co-curricular experience, and the mentor collective program.
And while FTIC are the primary target, the Spartans Thrive will engage all UNCG’s undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff, and its governing bodies to promote health and wellness across campus.
QEP leaders will communicate and educate the campus community about Spartans Thrive through meetings, presentations, and other outreach events this year. Through these means you can learn more about the reaccreditation process, how to become involved in Spartans Thrive, and ways to give your feedback.
Updates, resources, and important dates will be published here. Keep track of the process through Campus Weekly announcements, Staff and Faculty Senate meetings, and other UNCG channels.
