B.A. in Biology PROGRAM DISTINCTIONS

• Innovative CURE (Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences) Curriculum: As part of a National Science Foundation Study through the Council of Undergraduate Research, the biology department redesigned its curriculum so scientific research is infused into classes from the time students take their first introductory course until they take advanced courses during their final year.
• Undergraduate Research Opportunities: Students have the opportunity to work with internationally recognized faculty as they conduct research on topics ranging from cell motility, cancer, obesity, and the flu, to ecological understandings of urbanization, disease ecology, and the fate of nutrients in streams.
• State-of-the-Art Equipment and Facilities: Students have access to the Plant and Pollinator Center, Campus Wetlands, high-powered molecular biology equipment, two large greenhouse facilities, the Confocal Microscopy Facility, and more. 
• Accelerated Master’s Program (AMP): Earn dual B.A.or B.S. and M.S. in Biology credit for your studies, helping you earn your Master’s in Biology sooner and for less cost.

THE Bachelor of Arts in Biology STUDENT EXPERIENCE

• You are empowered to engage in hands-on work through internships and research.
• A variety of upper-level course content is offered, including virology, neurobiology, evolution, the environment, microbiology, and cancer.
• Collaborate with other departments such as nutrition, chemistry & biochemistry, mathematics, and geography. There are a wealth of interdisciplinary opportunities.
• The B.A. degree is flexible and designed to allow you to explore other interests through potential double majors, minors, and electives
