The Classical Civilization concentration within UNC Greensboro’s Ancient Mediterranean Studies major lets you explore the cultures, histories, and ideas of the Ancient Mediterranean world. This concentration offers a broad foundation for understanding the origins of many Western values, institutions, languages, and artistic traditions, while giving you the flexibility to shape your studies around the themes and cultures that interest you most.
It is an excellent option for Prelaw students, who should choose courses on Roman civilization (e.g. AMS 101), Roman law (AMS 350), and Latin to fulfill major requirements. It is also an excellent second major for those interested in any area of primary or secondary school teaching those who want the flexibility to curate their own topical, thematic, or cultural focus.
