Educational Research, Measurement, and Evaluation, M.S. Practitioner Research in Measurement and Evaluation Concentration

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Practitioner Research in Measurement and Evaluation (PRiME) prepares students to use research and data to improve programs, inform policy, and support better decisions in education and organizational settings. The program combines strong methodological training with real‑world application—so what you learn is immediately usable.

No prior research or evaluation experience is required.

PRiME is designed to meet you where you are and help you grow.

Program Distinctions

Practice‑First Training: You learn research by doing it—using real datasets, authentic problems, and applied projects drawn from education, policy, and organizational contexts.

Methodology‑First (Not Discipline‑Bound): PRiME focuses on research skills that transfer across roles and fields, rather than locking students into a single discipline.

Integrated Research Approaches:
Students build strength across:

  • Quantitative, qualitative, and mixed‑methods research
  • Measurement, assessment, and validity
  • Program evaluation design and use
  • Data analysis for decision‑making

National Expertise, Student‑Centered Teaching: Courses are taught by faculty with nationally recognized expertise in measurement, evaluation, psychometrics, and applied research—who are also committed to mentoring and student success.

Supportive by Design: The curriculum builds skills progressively, making advanced research training accessible to students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

Student Experience

In PRiME, you don’t just learn about research—you learn how to use it. From the start, the program focuses on building practical skills you can apply across careers, industries, and interests. Rather than being locked into one discipline, you’ll learn how research, measurement, and evaluation work in real settings—so your skills stay relevant no matter where your path leads.

PRiME is a 2 year, 30‑credit‑hour, fully online program designed for real life. Courses are structured, interactive, and supportive—making it possible to balance graduate study with work or other commitments. Students learn alongside peers from diverse backgrounds and receive active faculty support as they build confidence as practitioner‑researchers.
