The Bachelor’s in Kinesiology degree prepares students for careers in preventive and rehabilitative exercise, as well as fitness and sports performance optimization. It also prepares students for various allied health graduate programs, and incorporates complementary fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, health, nutrition, and pharmacology.
The kinesiology major has two concentrations tailored to students’ professional aspirations: Sports Medicine and Movement Science (SMMS) and Exercise Specialist (ES).
Bachelor’s in kinesiology Program Distinctions
Students in the undergraduate Kinesiology program are enrolled in one of the most established Kinesiology programs in the U.S.
- The Department of Kinesiology is the 4th largest department on campus, serving approximately 650 undergraduate students.
- Faculty have ongoing community outreach and research programs, and often provide student opportunities to contribute through independent studies or volunteer work.
- Universities.com ranks UNCG as the top undergraduate Kinesiology program in North Carolina (2024).
- The program is a member of the American Kinesiology Association.

- Students in the Bachelor’s of Kinesiology program complete an experiential learning project related to a career in kinesiology early in their plan of study.
- Every student works with an individual faculty member as their advisor.
