Bachelor's in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures - French K-12 Teaching Licensure

Prepare to inspire the next generation of language learners. The French Teaching Licensure concentration in UNC Greensboro’s Languages, Literatures, and Cultures B.A. prepares students for K-12 French teaching careers through advanced language study and hands-on educator training. You’ll gain experience in local classrooms while developing the teaching skills required for North Carolina licensure.

Through interdisciplinary study within the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures and the School of Education, you will develop the linguistic, cultural, and pedagogical expertise needed to teach French in diverse learning environments.

Take advantage of broader course offerings through foreign language consortia within the UNC System including UNC Online and the Language Exchange as well as interdisciplinary programs across the College of Arts and Sciences.

The French Teaching Licensure concentration in the Languages, Literatures, and Cultures B.A. prepares you to become a licensed French teacher in North Carolina’s K-12 schools. You’ll strengthen your French language skills through advanced coursework and cultural exploration. Teacher preparation courses help you build instructional, leadership, and classroom management skills. You’ll graduate ready to support student learning and success.

Graduates pursue careers as French educators in public, private, and charter schools. The concentration also prepares you for roles in curriculum development and educational leadership. Additional opportunities exist in language program administration and international education. You’ll graduate with strong language proficiency and intercultural communication skills. These skills are valued in education and other globally focused careers.

Many graduates pursue international teaching and cultural exchange opportunities. These include the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF). The concentration also provides excellent preparation for graduate study. Popular fields include education, French, applied linguistics, and international education.
