• Apply your language skills through service-learning and internships. Engage in service-learning and internships that connect with diverse local language communities and the organizations that serve them.
• Study abroad and immerse yourself in other cultures. Explore language, culture, and daily life through international experiences, including faculty-led programs in destinations such as Costa Rica and Spain.
• Live and learn in a globally focused community. Strengthen your language skills and intercultural understanding through the Global Village living-learning community or serve as a Global Village Language Facilitator.
• Connect with fellow language learners and cultural enthusiasts. Participate in language-focused clubs and activities that encourage language practice, cultural exploration, and community building.
• Pursue research and scholarship opportunities. Collaborate on research projects through the department and UNCG’s Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creativity Office.

AFTER GRADUATINg with a bachelor’s in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures

A degree in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures prepares you to communicate across cultures, navigate global perspectives, and engage effectively in multilingual environments. Graduates develop strong skills in communication, critical thinking, intercultural competency, and problem-solving that are valued across many professions and industries.

Graduates pursue careers in education, nonprofit organizations, international business, government, foreign service, translation and interpretation, journalism, publishing, and other globally focused fields. Students are also competitive candidates for prestigious international programs and fellowships. Graduates have earned opportunities such as Fulbright Teaching and Research Fellowships, Critical Language Scholarships, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarships, the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF), and the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program.

The program provides excellent preparation for graduate and professional study, particularly when combined with interests in fields such as business, international and global studies, public health, political science, history, sociology, geography, environmental studies, and the arts. Graduates have continued their education at institutions including Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill, Georgetown University, Vanderbilt University, the University of Virginia, and the University of Kentucky.
