UNC Greensboro’s Videogaming and Esports major equips you with interdisciplinary skills for careers in the multibillion-dollar gaming and esports industry. If you love playing, analyzing, or streaming games, this concentration is for you. 

Program Distinctions 

As an Epic games (makers of Fortnite) Unreal Academic Partner — one of only 36 in the United States — our program taps into the latest gaming technology, housed within our state-of-the-art Esports Arena, and a range of related disciplines like media production, design, music, and more to put you at the starting line. You’ll develop and build your own video game, dive into the art of telling stories via games, engage in critical analysis of gaming and its role in society, and gain hands-on insights into the practical and technical aspects of esports competition.

• Plug-and-play with any major: The uniquely interdisciplinary Esports concentration pairs well as a double major. It’s a great complement to a range of fields, from business to design to music production, among many others, that reflects the growing importance and wide-ranging opportunities of this fast-growing industry.  

• Be on the cutting edge of gaming tech: As an Epic Games Unreal Academic Partner, UNCG’s Videogaming and Esports integrates the latest gaming engines and tech into our offerings, so you’ll work with the latest and best as you develop your expertise. Plus, our state-of-the-art Esports Arena gives you first-hand experience in both gaming and esports competition for a well-rounded approach.  

• Be a gamer and a game-maker: With two student-run clubs and a vibrant Esports Arena, Videogaming and Esports connects you to a dynamic community. You’ll create your own game while honing skills in production, storytelling, and design— gaining critical insights into gaming’s impact on society.
