Bachelor of Music in Keyboard Performance Program Distinctions

The BM in Keyboard Performance faculty create a rich and diverse program of specialized literature, vocal and instrumental accompanying, keyboard harmony, and piano/organ pedagogy. 

Within the Keyboard area, students can major in Piano Performance, Organ Performance, or Jazz Piano Performance.

UNCG features one of only two Collaborative Piano doctoral tracks offered in the entire Southeast region.

The school hosts the region’s only Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Historical Keyboard Performance.

The Bachelor’s in Keyboard Performance student experience is a vibrant blend of intensive conservatory-style training, collaborative performance opportunities, and community-driven community outreach.

Keyboard students enjoy an active and highly supportive social and professional environment.

  • Bachelor of Music in Keyboard Performance students receive intensive one-on-one instruction on their primary instrument.
  • Students perform a junior and/or senior recital, which for keyboardists may include full solo or chamber recitals.
  •  The Keyboard Area regularly hosts Brews-Keys, a concert series in which students perform solo, duo, and chamber works at local community spaces.
  • Students travel and present research, post sessions and pedagogical projects at major national events like the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) National Conference.
  • An arts-based living community “Studio 91” in Cone Residence Hall features music, theater, and dance practice rooms; music composition computer lab; drawing lounge; and arts-related programs and events.
