Move In & Move Out

Move-in

At the beginning of each fall semester, OWRR staff collects and breaks down cardboard boxes generated by students moving into residence halls.

  • Fall 2007: Collected over 8 tons of cardboard.

During move-in, we ask that you BREAK DOWN cardboard boxes and place them in the designated CARDBOARD ONLY containers found near your residence hall. All other recycling and trash can still go in the normal recycling and trash containers.

Move-out

Weighed down by too much stuff? Overwhelmed by the clutter in your dorm room? Let the OWRR take a load off your hands! At the end of each Spring semester, green roll-carts will magically appear in your residence hall's lobby. Simply cram unwanted stuff in the bins and scram for the summer!

All items donated through the Cram & Scram drive are later sold in a rummage sale for 50 cents a pop—proceeds from the sale fund OWRR student employee scholarships to environmental conferences.

  • Spring 2008: Collected over 6.5 tons of material left by students in residence halls. Avoided ~ $845 in landfill costs for the university.
