Ms. Kimberly D. Miller is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a master’s degree in Recreation and Park Management, and a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation. She currently serves as Project Coordinator for Therapeutic Recreation And Inclusive Networks (TRAIN), a personnel preparation grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. Ms. Miller also serves as a Research Associate, with Dr. Stuart Schleien, on the National Search for Best Practices in Inclusive Recreation initiative. Kim spent 6 years coordinating a U.S. DOE funded community partnership fostering inclusive volunteering. She has taught several courses and serves as an adjunct member of the graduate faculty within the RTH department at UNCG. Ms. Miller’s research on inclusive recreation service delivery and volunteering has been reported in 12 articles in professional journals. She was the lead author of A Community for ALL Children: A Guide to Inclusion for Out-of-School Time. This monograph introduces basic premises and practices of inclusive community recreation to parents, family members, careproviders, and practitioners.
