UNC Greensboro is honored to be named one of “Military Times” Best for Vets Colleges, the largest and most comprehensive annual ranking of schools for military service members and veterans.

“UNCG is proud to serve all of our military-affiliated students, including active-duty service members, veterans, and their families,” said Chancellor Franklin D. Gilliam, Jr. “This recognition is a testament to not just our military-affiliated resources, but our entire campus being a welcoming place for all who have served our country.”

Each year, “Military Times” sends a survey to colleges and universities across the country asking about their programs for veterans. The survey results are then analyzed, along with public data about colleges and universities obtained from the Department of Education and Department of Veterans Affairs and turned into an official ranking.

“Our comprehensive survey and thoughtful methodology make our rankings best in class” said Mike Gruss, editor-in-chief at Sightline Media Group, parent company of “Military Times.”

UNCG is home to about 1,500 military-affiliated students and includes a Military-Affiliated Services office with a variety of resources. All active-duty service members (including National Guard and reservists) along with veterans can apply to UNCG with no application fees. Anyone who uses military educational benefits also gets priority registration for classes.

“Veteran and active duty servicemembers bring a wealth of life experience to our campus and enrich our community in numerous ways. The Office of Military-Affiliated Services is proud to serve these students and we appreciate the recognition of the work we do to serve our military-affiliated students,” said Chris Gregory, director of the Office of Military-Affiliated Services.

The University continues to be honored for its commitment to military students, recognized as a Top 10 Military-Friendly School and Top 10 Military-Spouse Friendly School among Tier 2 research institutions for 2023-24.
