A student-led organization has evolved into a network of committed members advocating for individuals experiencing homelessness. Regardless of background, Bridging Basics recognizes the importance of self-care and ensuring dignity by providing access to hygiene products. Its UNCG student members support the whole community through donation drives and local events.

“In bridging basics i’ve learned how to navigate challenges without letting setbacks demotivate me, deepening my understanding of the systematic issues related to homelessness and Accessibility.”

Seren Wang, president

Despite Bridging Basics being active for just one semester, members have successfully hosted fundraising events, raising over $1,000 and 1,000+ items for local organizations. Wang highlights what drives Bridging Basics’ success:

Our DIY workshops for lip balms and face masks along with biweekly volunteering opportunities that support our community. We also often collaborate with other student organizations to spread awareness about our mission!

Bridging Basics provides students the opportunity to engage in meaningful service work and connect with others that also care about social advocacy, bringing people together to make a strong difference.

Students can follow Bridging Basics on Instagram to learn about how to join and attend general meetings.

No matter how out of touch a student may feel when finding their place on campus, there’s a group fitting for everyone. Do the research and try out an interest meeting to open yourself to endless opportunities and community that could last a lifetime.
