Prestigious Doesn’t Have to be Expensive
High achieving students are finding an Ivy League experience at UNCG’s Lloyd International Honors College, where UNCG’s most motivated learners live and study together. The smaller learning environment comes with mentorships, study abroad, and undergraduate research projects that enrich each student’s chosen field of study. But honors college students aren’t the only ones finding undergraduate research opportunities at UNCG.

“Research is a great opportunity to not just learn something, but to use what I’m learning in a real way.”
– Jia Emaus, Lloyd International Honors College student
In 2024, the University received over $65 million dollars in external research funding. Substantial funding means faculty research projects are plentiful. Unlike larger universities, prerequisites are seldom required at UNCG, so curious, disciplined students can participate in research work as early as their first year. This collaborative environment builds confidence and allows Spartans to take part in important findings that impact the world around them.
“Advising is the number one plus to going to school at UNCG. I wouldn’t be where I am without it.”
– Coren O’Brien, pre-med student and undergraduate researcher

Research opportunities and expert advising also makes UNCG an ideal environment for students on pre-professional tracks. UNCG boasts acceptance rates higher than the national average for pre-med, pre-vet, pre-physical therapy, and pre-physician’s assistant schools. Advisors work closely with pre-professional students to make sure they get the experiences, test scores, and extra-curricular activities that their dream schools are looking for.

“I don’t know how to put it into words. I’ll be making more money than my parents ever thought about earning. I’ve seen them struggle, so my goal has always been to make more than they make. And once I get something in my head, I go after it no matter what it takes.”
– Ashanti Evans ’25, Marketing Analyst, Reynolds, Inc.
