UNCG’s bachelor’s of Human Health Sciences degree prepares graduates for success in entry-level allied health-related industries or to be competitive applicants for health-related graduate programs. Students are introduced to a variety of allied health careers and pathways to position them for success in health professions.

The Bachelor’s of Human Health Sciences Student Experience

Students in the bachelor’s of Human Health Sciences degree program will join the first program of its kind in the Triad. Students in in the program will:

  • Be eligible to live in the School of Health and Human Sciences Living Learning Community. Students in this housing community live with others who share their career interests. They will receive mentorship from faculty and enjoy programming events, such as pizza and game nights.
  • Have the opportunity for practical learning or shadowing within their chosen career field.
  • Get involved in community experiences in the Triad to make an impact.

After Graduating with a Health Sciences Degree

Upon completion of the degree, students will have the skills to either:

  • Successfully enter the allied health workforce.
  • Be competitive applicants for graduate schools in a range of allied health fields.

A Bachelor’s Degree Prepares Students for Professional Programs

Graduates with a health sciences degree will be competitive applicants for health-related professional programs. This includes:

  • Occupational therapy
  • Physicians assistants
  • Medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Physical therapy

A Bachelor’s Degree Designed for Careers in Allied Health

Graduates with a human health sciences degree may obtain jobs in entry-level allied health-related positions, such as:

  • Clinical research assistant
  • Mobility specialist
  • Clinical administrative assistant
  • Orthopedic technician
  • Health education/wellness specialist

FAQS about a Human Health Sciences Degree

Students who graduate from the UNCG Human Health Sciences program have followed one of two tracks: The allied health studies tract or the health professions track. Graduates will be eligible for careers in areas that support and impact child, family, and older adult health or the business side of medicine.

Students will take classes on you will take classes on nutrition, kinesiology, human development and family studies, social work, communication disorders, recreational therapy, and gerontology.

Students enrolled in the Human Health Sciences major are interested in occupational therapy, physician assistant, physical therapy, medicine, dentistry, children, family and social services, gerontology, wellness specialist, surgical technician, clinical research assistant, or patient financial counselor, to name a few.
