The Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering moves ahead with exciting plans

Following the hiring of founding dean Dr. James G. Ryan, the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering submitted its graduate school curriculum and degree proposal to UNC General Administration. The school, which is a collaborative effort with North Carolina A&T State University, will:

  • offer master’s and PhD degrees in nanoscience
  • provide training for scientists and engineers already in the work force and engaged in global economic development activities
  • conduct cutting-edge nanoscale research and
  • emphasize commercialization of the products that are generated.

A groundbreaking for the facility is planned for this summer with building completion expected by summer of 2011.
