The Gladys Strawn Bullard Award was established to recognize and reward members of the student body, faculty, and staff of UNCG who provide Outstanding Leadership and Service to the University.

UNCG is currently accepting nominees for 2025. All entries must be submitted electronically, via this form, no later than Friday, February 28.

Members of the faculty and staff are eligible after two years of full‐time service to the University. Students must have completed three semesters of full-time course work.

Remember to consider the people who may quietly guide as well as those who are more visible.

The Gladys Strawn Bullard Awards were established in 1981 through an endowed gift from Bern F. Bullard and his family in honor of Gladys Strawn Bullard, an alumna of UNCG, previous president of the UNCG Alumni Association, and former member and vice chairman of the UNCG Board of Trustees. She was a longtime civic leader in Raleigh, first president of the Democratic Women of Wake County, and a past president of the Raleigh Woman’s Club. Through the years, she also served on numerous boards of non-profit organizations. She passed away in December 2014.

Three $1000 awards will be given to a member of each group. A committee, representatives of the diverse constituencies of the campus and appointed by the Chancellor, will select the recipients.

Please Note: Nominees for the Staff Excellence Award may also be considered for the Gladys Strawn Bullard Award.

The nomination and selection process will be coordinated by the Human Resources Department. For all questions or concerns, please contact Vickie Carter at vjcarter@uncg.edu or call 336.334.4511.
