Those interested in working with immigrant and refugee communities with the Center for New North Carolinians may apply for the next program year, which begins Sept. 8. AmeriCorps volunteers receive a living allowance and, upon successful completion of the program, an education award that can be used toward tuition and qualified student loans.
Employees (current and retired) can take advantage of three free personalized fitness sessions. HealthyUNCG and Kinesiology will hold them on June 8–10 at the Kaplan Center.

Susan Safran ’77 received an honorary doctor of science degree for her exceptional guidance in advanced learning in health care, emergency training, and higher education. Randall Kaplan received an honorary doctor of laws degree for his visionary leadership, public service, and philanthropy, establishing a transformative impact across North Carolina.

To help with traffic and parking around First Horizon Coliseum, UNCG will provide free shuttles from campus.
UNCG’s Scholastic Sports Alliance will host the North Carolina Games in Education Summit on May 16-17. This serves as a great chance for campus units to put their work and partnership opportunities in front of a statewide audience.
Some of Greensboro’s most iconic artwork — Nathanael Greene, the February One sit-in leaders, and UNCG’s own iconic Minerva — sprang from the mind of alum James Barnhill ’82 MFA. He’s also mentored thousands of students and displayed his sculptures across the nation. An exhibition of 30 works by Barnhill will open to the public on May 8 at Greensboro’s Continental Club Gallery.
