Nursing Professor’s Legacy Funds Scholarship

Mary Jo Helfers, a clinical nurse professor who passed away in 2023, continues to guide the paths of UNCG School of Nursing students. She first established the Mary Jo Helfers Endowed Scholarship in 2013 to honor her great aunt, and an estate gift is now increasing the endowment.

In Memoriam: Dr. Sarah Shoffner, a Lifetime Educator

A March 20 memorial ceremony for the late Sarah Shoffner ’62, ’64 MS, ’77 Ph.D. will be held in Marcus T. Johnson Alumni House. Shoffner’s impact spans decades, from three-time student to educator and administrator, and later chair of the Alumni House Committee.
