UNCG is proud to welcome the first cohort of ACE Scholars within the Department of Library and Information Studies. With the goal of increasing the number of culturally diverse librarians in academic libraries, UNCG instituted the Academic and Cultural Enrichment (ACE) Scholars Program in 2009. Using a generous grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services' Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program, we have recruited twelve students from under represented communities into a two-year MLIS degree program.

The ACE Scholars will receive:

  • Tuition and fees to attend the UNCG MLIS program for up to five semesters.
  • A monthly stipend of $1500.
  • Supply fees of $500 per school year.
  • Travel expenses to a national and a state conference during the program.
  • A laptop computer at the beginning of the program.

Meet the 2009 ACE Scholars cohort.
