Sandra
Mace is the program coordinator for the Music Research Institute,
specializing in sound-level exposure of musicians.
She holds a BM and MM in music education from the University of North
Carolina at Greensboro, is completing a PhD in music education from the
University
of North Carolina at Greensboro, and holds CAOCH certification as an
occupational hearing conservationist. She taught elementary music and
middle school
band during twelve years with public schools of North Carolina. She remains
active as an adjudicator for middle and high school honor band auditions
as well as a trumpet instructor and performer. She has presented research
at the North Carolina Music Educators Conference and speaks to middle
and high school students about sound-level measurement and hearing protection.
