North Carolina A&T State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro offer a collaborative Master of Social Work degree program which began in the fall of 1997. The curriculum has been designed by the joint faculty from both institutions to provide students with advanced generalist social work education. The program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
The JMSW Program is a single academic program between North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. It is an innovative program that flows from a multicultural history and models multicultural collaboration. Students and faculty have access to the full range of instructional and research support available at both universities. The administration of the JMSW program rotates between the two campuses every four years.
Students take classes on both campuses and faculty members teach on both campuses. A joint admissions committee selects students for admission. Program Co-Directors are Dr. Wayne Moore, of the Department of Sociology and Social Work at NCA&TSU, and Dr. John Rife, Chair of the Department of Social Work at UNCG.
