GREENSBORO, NC – Ready to try your hand at penning fantasy or science fiction?

Visit UNCG Wed., Feb. 20, for a discussion with writer and editor Edmund R. Schubert.

The Center for Creative Writing in the Arts and the MFA Writing Program are sponsoring the discussion, which focuses on publishing science fiction and fantasy. The event, free and open to the public, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Wachovia Lecture Hall, Science Building.

Topics will include the differences between publishing short stories and novels, submissions strategies, on-line resources and industry trends. Schubert will open the floor for a Q&A session.

Schubert has written more than 30 short stories published in anthologies and magazines in the U.S., Canada and Great Britain. His new novel, “Dreaming Creek,” is due out this fall.

Schubert has held a range of editorial positions, currently serving as both managing editor of “Diversity Woman Magazine” and fiction editor of Orson Scott Card’s “InterGalactic Medicine Show.” An anthology of IGMS stories, co-edited by Schubert and Card, will be published in August.
