GREENSBORO, NC – With the economy crashing and the national debt looming ever larger, Americans of all political persuasions are searching for answers. How do we protect our nation’s financial future?
The Friends of the UNCG Libraries will screen the new film “I.O.U.S.A.” beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, April 20, in the Elliott University Center Auditorium.
“I.O.U.S.A.,” directed by Patrick Creadon, is a nonpartisan look at the national debt and its consequences for America and Americans.
The showing is free and open to the public. Jeff Sarbaum, Stuart Allen and Ken Snowden – all economics professors at UNCG – and U.S. Rep. Howard Coble will participate in a discussion and Q&A after the film.
In “I.O.U.S.A.,” Creadon interweaves archival footage and economic data to paint a vivid and alarming profile of America’s current economic situation, with candid interviews from Warren Buffett, Alan Greenspan, Paul O’Neill, Robert Rubin and Paul Volcker. The film aspires to move beyond doomsday rhetoric to consider paths to a fiscally sound nation for future generations.
