The Multiliteracy Centers are composed of the Math Help Center and the Communication Lab. Our goal is to help students become more confident in their written, spoken, and mathematical abilities. We strive to offer a welcoming learning environment that fosters student engagement, empowerment, and academic success.

The Communication Lab

The Communication Lab supports thousands of students, faculty, and staff in their awareness of how multiple literacies (written, oral, spatial, visual, gestural, and multimodal) impact ways of learning, communicating, and composing. This is accomplished by providing communication support (face to face or online) through one-on-one and group sessions that focus on shared expertise and dialogic feedback.

Values

  • Access – to cultural and political communication modes necessary to be engaged participants in social change.
  • Collaboration – between consultants and communicators generates shared knowledge and understanding.
  • Dialogue – between consultants and communicators contributes to generative thinking about the composing process.
